Zula Bertrand

LawtellA Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Zula Reviere Bertrand will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, August 15, 2014, in the St. Bridget Catholic Church in Lawtell, LA. Fr. Austin Leger will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow in the St. Bridget Cemetery.

Zula passed away on Sunday, August 10, 2014, at Acadian Medical Center in Eunice at the age of 93. She was a longtime resident of Lawtell where she served as Postmaster for 28 years. She loved all the people of Lawtell who were always bringing her fresh vegetables and fruit from their gardens. She was a wonderful wife, mother, friend, a great cook and seamstress. She was a lifelong parishioner and Catechism teacher for 14 years at St. Bridget Catholic Church in Lawtell. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters. God has received another one of his special angels and is now being held in his arms

She leaves to cherish her memories are her son, Gervais Buck Bertrand, Jr. of Baton Rouge daughter, Linda Thibodeaux Smith and husband, Randy Smith of BakerZachary and daughterinlaw, Gail Bertrand of Lafayette. Also two brothers, Carlton Reviere and wife, Delores of Garland and Hilman Paul Reviere and wife, Mary of Friendswood, TX grandchildren: Mark Bertrand and wife, Tricia and daughters, Meagan, Mandy, Samantha, and Nicole of Eunice Chad Thibodeaux and wife, Vicki and his sons, Conner and Peyton of Central Missy Hamontree and children, Ben, Ashley, Crista, Matthew, Joshua, Elaine, Gabe and Maggie, all of Lafayette. She is also survived by her sisterinlaw, Jo Ann Reviere of Lawtell and godchildren, Diane Tweedel of Lawtell and David Lafleur of Lawtell.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gervais Buck Bertrand, Sr. her son, Harold James Bertrand sister, Agnes Lafleur and brother, Nolton Reviere.

A very special thanks to ALL of the staff at Oaklane Wellness Center, especially Demetra Bo Stevens for all of her loving care she demonstrated while tending to her needs.

Pallbearers will be Mark Bertrand, Chad Thibodeaux, Conner Thibodeaux, Neil Reviere, Raphael Reviere, Mike Lafleur, Ben Hamontree, and Cody Lafleur.

Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Thursday, August 14, 2014, from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. On Friday, the funeral home will reopen at 8:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. A Rosary service will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday evening in the funeral home.
