Zetta Stelly

Opelousas A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Zetta Reed Stelly, age 93, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 29, 2014, in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the Bellevue Memorial Park. Father Gary Schexnayder will celebrate the Mass. Readings will be done by Melissa Bourque Myers, Shawn Stelly Dunn, and deShea Stelly Richardson.
She was a native of Prairie Ronde and a longtime resident of Opelousas. She passed away on Saturday, April 26, 2014, at Prompt Succor Nursing Home of Opelousas. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, and spending time with her family and friends. She was devoted Catholic who had a strong faith. She was a member of the Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church Altar Society and a past President. She was a wonderful loving and caring mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her sons, Warren Stelly and wife, Marlene, Jay Stelly and wife, Judy, and Tommy Stelly, all of Lafayette Willis Stelly and wife, Connie, and Raymond Stelly and wife, Brenda, all of Baton Rouge and one daughter, Joyce Bourque of Opelousas one sister, Novella Taylor of Opelousas three sistersinlaw, Alma Reed of Opelousas Norma Beaugh and husband, George of Morgan City, and Shirley Stelly of Arnaudville. She had 16 grandchildren, 14 greatgrandchildren, 3 step greatgrandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, J. Andy Stelly her parents, Jimmie Reed and Florentine Pitre Reed soninlaw, Huey L. Bourque and four brothers, Otis, Eraste, Rogers, and Riley Reed.
The family would like to thank Prompt Succor Nursing Facility staff for their generous and loving care during the last 7 years of her life.
Pallbearers will be Chad Stelly, Casey Stelly, David Bourque, Huey Bourque, Zach Stelly, and Christian Stelly.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Tuesday, April 29, 2014, beginning at 10:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. The rosary service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday in the Funeral Home.
