Yvonne Fontenot

Opelousas A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church for Mrs. Yvonne R. Fontenot. Rite of Committal and interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park. Rev. Msgr. Keith J. DeRouen will celebrate the Mass.
Yvonne was a native of Grand Prairie and a longtime resident of Opelousas, LA. She passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2013, at Opelousas General Health System at the age of 87. She was a LPN Nurse for many years at the old St. Landry Clinic and Opelousas General Health System. She worked for a longtime at the Womens Clinic with Dr. Posner, Dr. Martinez, and Dr. Padgett. She also did private duty nursing for many years. She was a member of the LA Nurses Association.
She also received her Real Estate License and Notary Public License. She loved gardening, art work, sewing, cooking, and fishing. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. She was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, and greatgrandmother. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include one son, Keith R. Fontenot of Opelousas one daughter, Kathy F. Saucier of Opelousas two sisters, Ruby Vidrine of Ville Platte and Emily Williamson of Opelousas and five grandchildren, Andrea Montgomery, Brian Saucier, Justin Fontenot, Mark Fontenot, and Mellisa Rollins and four greatgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Alphan Fontenot her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jules Roberie six brothers, Elmo, Hewitt, Eli, Emery, Pershing, and Howard Roberie her twin sister, A. Elizabeth LeBlanc and one grandson, Chad Saucier.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Tuesday, April 30, 2013, from 10:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. On Wednesday, visitation will continue from 8:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. A Rosary service will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening in the funeral home.
