Woody was a native of Grand Coteau and a long-time resident of Sunset. He died on Sunday, September 6, 2009, at Opelousas General Health System.

His career began as a young man in the family sweet potato business. His father was one of the first shippers in the sweet potato business which was one of the main sources of income and growth in the Sunset area. He also was in the Cotton Gin and feed store business for many years.

He was a very strong business man who served on the Board of Directors for the Bank of Sunset for 41 years. He was always active and willing to serve in numerous organizations in the community. He was also a past member of YMBC, LA Sweet Potato Association, and St. Charles Catholic Church. He was a U. S. Army Air Corp veteran who served his country during WWII.

His favorite pastime was being with his family, friends, and especially his grandchildren. He was a people person and was always the first to offer assistance to ones in need. He loved to make his morning visits and drink coffee with people at the bank, post office, and pharmacy. He enjoyed doing genealogy research and locating old family members. He would also enjoy dancing with his wife and many friends. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
