Winnie Meche Zerangue, 97, departed this world to join Christ in everlasting life on Wednesday, December 14, surrounded by her loved ones. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who was devoted to her family, friends, and church. She had a special place in her heart for her friends in the Opelousas Rosary Group of which she was a member for many years. She will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.

Funeral services will be held in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 19, 2011, with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by MSGR. Keith DeRouen, followed by interment in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Sunday, December 18, 2011, from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. A rosary service will be held at 5:00 pm.

On Monday, visitation will continue in the funeral home from 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.

She is survived by daughters Beverly Castano of Fort Wayne, Indiana and Velma Descant and husband, Richard of Houston, Texas daughterinlaw, Ruth Zerangue sisters Lola Meche, Cecile Zerangue, Patsy Latiolais one brother, Bruno Meche grandchildren, Mona Z. Manteris, Howard Zerangue, Jr., Debbie Z. Sealy, Keith Zerangue,
Neal Zerangue, Harold Zerangue, Darryl Zerangue, Alexandra C. Cooper, Stefanie Snatic, Jonathan Snatic, Lori D. Kuhn, and Greg Descant.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elzay and Oscalie Olivier Meche husband, Edward Zerangue son, Sheriff Howard Zerangue, Sr. daughter, Linda Snatic grandson, Leo Castano sisters, Melanie Guidroz, Marie Knott brothers, Willie Meche and Alvin Meche.
