Opelousas A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 22, 2013, at St. Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas, LA, for Mrs. Winnie Pearl Ardoin. Rite of Committal and interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery in Opelousas, LA. The Rev. Msgr. Louis Melancon will celebrate the Mass.
Winnie was a native of Ville Platte and longtime resident of Opelousas. She passed away on Sunday, January 20, 2013, at her home surrounded by her family at the age of 88.
Her career started as she worked at the Ration Board Office in Ville Platte. Then, she worked as an abstractor in the Abstract Office at the Clerk of Court Office in Opelousas until her retirement. She was also a volunteer with Opelousas General Health System for more than 25 years. She was a member of ABWA, AARP, Young at Heart, and the Elks Club Ladies Auxiliary. She was also a parishioner of St. Landry Catholic Church for many years. As a pastime, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was a wonderful, loving, and caring, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and friend. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her grandchildren: Michelle Mouton Steigerwald, Paul Mouton, Felicia Mouton Dolese, Julie Mouton, Kimberly Ardoin Taylor, Jonathan Ardoin, and Dusty Ardoin three greatgrandchildren: Jordan Pennington, Allyssa Mouton, and Ross Mouton and one soninlaw, Frank Mouton of Opelousas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John P. Ryder, Sr. and Amelia Fontenot Ryder two sons, Ronnie and Steven Ardoin one daughter, Barbara Bobbie Mouton two brothers, Aswald Ryder and John P. Ryder, Jr. and three sisters: Verna Mae Ardoin, Ollie Byrd Fontenot, and Elvina Fontenot.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Monday, January 21, 2013, from 3 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. On Tuesday, visitation will continue from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. A Rosary service will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Monday evening in the funeral home.
The family would like to extend special thanks to her caregivers: Clareece Kennerson, Shirley Kennerson, Elonda Mallet, and Wanda Mallet and the staff of Heart of Hospice.
