Pappy Leblanc
Port Barre Funeral services for Mr. Wilton Lawrence Pappy Leblanc, age 72, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 10, 2008, with a Mass of Christian Burial in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, followed by interment in the St. Bridget Catholic Church Cemetery in Lawtell. The Reverend Nicky Trahan will celebrate the Mass.
Mr. Leblanc was a native of Washington and resident of Port Barre. He died on Monday, April 7, 2008, at 8:37 p.m. at his residence.
In 1955, Pappy enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served four years, earning the China Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. Upon his discharge in 1959, Pappy spent most of his life working in the oil field. He was an employee of Noble Drilling and Marine Drilling, from which he retired at age 62. Pappy was an avid hunter, fisherman, and outdoorsman. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Pappy was a wonderful man that never met a stranger, kind and generous to all he met. He will forever remain in our hearts.
Survivors include a daughter, Ruby Marie Thibodeaux and companion, Ricky Du of Atlanta, GA; a sister, Joyce Aucoin of Opelousas; brothers, Joe Leblanc and wife Lillian of Opelousas, Dudley Leblanc and wife, Patricia of Morgan City; and Edward Leblanc of Naples, TX; grandchildren: Kim Powell of Shreveport; Tony Vidrine and wife, Sharon of Vidrine; great grandchildren, Matt Powell of Shreveport; T.J. and Kennedy Vidrine of Vidrine. He had a host of special friends: Cathy and Pete Young, Jessica Soileau Savage, Ralph, Jr., Katrina, and Kurt Jennings. He also had numerous nieces and nephews.
Pappy was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Bourque Leblanc; parents, Lawrence and Eva Marks Leblanc; a sister, Eva Cazaudebat; a brother, Edgar Leblanc; and his stepchildren, Barbara Ann Bourque and Jeffery Savoie.
Pallbearers will be Paul Leblanc, David Leblanc, Ralph Jennings, Jr., Kurt Jennings, Pete Young, and Sam Soileau.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Port Barre on Wednesday, April 9, 2008, from 11:00 a.m. until service time on Thursday. A rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
