Port Barre A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church for Wilson Bourque. Rite of Committal and interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. A VFW service will be held at the grave site. Rev. Father Daniel Picard will celebrate the Mass.
Wilson was a resident of Port Barre. He passed away on Monday, June 3, 2013, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home, at the age of 91. Wilson was employed with the La. Department of Transportation in the Maintance department. He was a World War II Army Vet. He was a member of the American Legion, K.C. and the VFW of Port Barre.
He loved to make a large garden to sell vegetables and also to give them to his family and friends. He loved his church and was an Altar Boy until the age of 80. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and was a good provider.
Survivors include his sons, Sidney Bourque of Port Barre, Glen Bourque and wife, Beverly of Arnaudville, and Randy Bourque and wife, Melanie of Opelousas, daughters, Gail Stoute and her husband, Larry of Opelousas, and Carolyn Fontenot and her husband, Joseph of Opelousas, sisters, Daisy Bourque, Bertha Wyble, and Willie Mae Emonet of Port Barre, nine grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and one great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney and Henrietta Boudreaux Bourque.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Port Barre on Tuesday, June 4, 2013, from 4 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. On Wednesday, visitation will continue from 8:00 a.m. until time of services.
A Rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening in the funeral home.
