William Montgomery Iii

Opelousas - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for William J. "Bill" Montgomery III, age 66 at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 7, 2017, St. Landry Catholic Church, with Fr. Austin Leger. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery.

Bill was a resident of Opelousas. He passed away on Thursday, February 2, 2017, at Herman Memorial Hospital in Houston, TX. Bill loved to travel, go camping, fish and build things out of metal and wood. He loved being with his family and friends, he was very much a people person. Bill loved to Bar-B-Que for his family and friends but one of his greatest things was putting the grandchildren in the side by side and riding them around. Bill is going to be missed by all that knew and loved him.

Bill is survived by his loving wife, Patrice Briley Montgomery of Opelousas; son, William J. Montgomery IV of Franklin; daughters, Michelle Montgomery of Opelousas, Kristen M. Trahan and husband Joshua of Youngsville, Erin Montgomery and Fiancé Cole Lane of Lafayette; brothers, James D. Montgomery and wife Suzanne of Opelousas, Edward Montgomery of Opelousas, Donald Montgomery and wife Barbara of Opelousas, Frederick Montgomery and wife Melissa of Melville; sisters, Elaine Richard and husband Joseph of Grand Prairie, Nancy Bridges and husband Clark of Opelousas, Paula Deranger and husband Paul of Grand Prairie; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William and Vela Soileau Montgomery II; brother, Richard Montgomery.

The visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. on Monday, February 6, 2017, and will reopen on Tuesday morning at 8:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.

A Rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday evening in the funeral home.
