William Billy Ray Fontenot
Port Barre- Funeral services for Mr. William Ray Fontenot, known to many as Billy, age 54, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 19, 2009, with a Mass of Christian Burial in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Port Barre.
Fr. Nicky Trahan will celebrate the Mass.
Mr. Billy was a native of Opelousas and life-long resident of Port Barre. He died on Saturday, May 16, 2009, at his residence. He was a Drilling Tool Supervisor for the oilfield for many years. His favorite pastime was being outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a member of NRA, NWTF, and Ducks Unlimited.
Mourning his death yet cherishing his memories are one son, Beau Fontenot and wife, Jami of Port Barre; two daughters; Ashley Fontenot Savoy and husband, Brock of Lawtell; and Erin Fontenot of Opelousas; his father, Wilfred Fontenot of Port Barre; two sisters; Jere Campbell and husband, Blaine of Port Barre; and Sue Comeaux of Port Barre; godmother, Dorothy Dot Bruner of Port Barre; seven grandchildren: Christian, Seth, and Jaxon Fontenot; Maddox Fontenot and Carson Doucet; and Alyssa and Ryan Fontenot.
Preceded in death by his mother, Flora Belle Babineaux Fontenot and brother-in-law, Johnny Comeaux.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Port Barre on Monday, May 18, 2009, from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. On Tuesday, visitation will continue from 8 a.m. until the time of services.
A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Monday evening in the funeral home.
