Willard H. Bill Dawsey

Opelousas Funeral services for Mr. Willard H. Bill Dawsey, 88, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 26 2008, in the Sibille Chapel in Opelousas. Interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas. Rev. Benny Reppond will conduct the services.

Mr. Dawsey passed away on Sunday, February 24, 2008 at 12:38 pm at Opelousas General Health System.

Mr. Dawsey was born in Kinder, La, and was a resident of Opelousas. He served In the U.S. Army, and fought in World War II. He was also past member of the Masonic Lodge in Vidalia, La. He was a heavy machine operator for several area construction companies. He loved his family, his church, singing and playing his harmonica. He also loved to hunt, fish, and grow vegetables in his garden.

Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Mrs. Mary Vinola Bordelon Dawsey, of Opelousas; four daughters: Priscilla Ball and husband, Jim of Memphis, Tenn; Lola Garganus and husband, Garland of Pearl River, La.; Elaine Sube of Pearl River; and Betty Eshette and husband, David of Avondale, La; five sisters, Mavis Miller of; Joy Katchen; Lillian Young all of Jonesboro; Jerry Bower of Seattle Wa.; and Doris Anderson of Houston, Tx also by Numerous grandchildren, and two Step-grandchildren, James Jamie Hollier of Opelousas, and Todd Hollier of Leonville.

Mr. Dawsey was preceded in death by his parents: John Washington Dawsey and Lola M. Brown Dawsey; two stepchildren, Patricia Stopher Hollier and Frank Leland Stopher; five brothers: L.E. Dawsey, Charles Dawsey, William Dawsey, Johnny Albert Dawsey, and Albert Dawsey.

Visiting hours were observed on Monday, February 25, 2008, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, Februaruy 26, 2008 from 8:00 am until the time of services. A Prayer and Reflection Service on the life of Mr. Dawsey were held on Monday Evening at 7:00 pm in the funeral home.

Pallberaers will be Kent Thibodeaux, Brent Thibodeaux, Billy Thibodeaux, James Hollier, Todd Hollier and Willie Thibodeaux.
