Wilfred "Beb" Wheaton

Port Barre - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 30, 2015, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Port Barre, LA, for Mr. Wilfred "Beb" Wheaton, age 92. Rite of Committal and interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Port Barre, LA. Rev. Father Daniel Picard will celebrate the Mass.

Mr. Beb passed away on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at Opelousas General Health System. He was a long time resident of Port Barre and well known throughout the area. Mr. Beb worked at Lou Ana Foods as shipping and receiving supervisor for 48 years until his retirement. Mr. Beb enjoyed gardening and sharing his surplus of crops with family and friends; preparing the Sunday meal for his family gatherings, including his special homemade bread. Mr. Beb spent a lot of time praying the Rosary with a special devotion to the Blessed Mother and lastly he had a special love for animals. He is going to be missed by his family and friends.

Survivors include his sons; Michael Wheaton and wife Betty of Port Barre, Pat Wheaton and wife Darlene of Port Barre; daughters, Rita "Polly" Johnson and husband Vaughn of Krotz Springs, June Griffin and husband Sammy of Opelousas, Cathy Deville and husband Mike of Port Barre, Connie Pousson and husband Kevin of Opelousas; grandchildren, Tim and Damian Badeaux, MD., Angie W. Miller, Jessica Wheaton, Jennifer W. LeMaire, Paul Wheaton, Mont Johnson, Devin and Adrienne Wheaton, Samuel "Beau" Griffin, Jr., Nicole G. Glankler, Leslie D. Cormier, Alex Deville, Morgan and Sean Pousson; great-grandchildren, Brock and Caroline Badeaux, Jordan and Camille Badeaux, Emily, Maggie and Avery Miller, Harrison LeMaire, Michael and Matthew Wheaton, Sam and Jimmy Griffin, Madelyn, Lilly and Griffin Glankler, Aiden and Sophia Cormier, Austin and Abel Deville.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rita H. Wheaton; daughter, Audrey W. Badeaux; son-in-law, Norris Badeaux; parents, Laws and Alelia Emonet Wheaton, 5 brothers and 3 sisters.

Pallbearers will be Tim Badeaux, Damian Badeaux, MD., Paul Wheaton, Mont Johnson, Samuel "Beau" Griffin, Jr. and Alex Deville. Honorary pallbearers will be Devin Wheaton, Morgan and Sean Pousson.

Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Port Barre on Thursday, January 29, 2015, from 10 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. On Friday, visitation will continue from 8 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. A Rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday evening in the funeral home.
