Wilda Christian

Opelousas- Mrs. Wilda Savoy Christian, of Opelousas, LA, died on Thursday, July 26, 2018 at the age of 88. A Memorial Service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, August 17, 2018 in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas; visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until time of service. Inurnment will be held at Myrtle Grove Cemetery in Opelousas at a later date.

Mrs. Wilda was born in Eunice on December 5, 1929. She was the former Owner and Operator of La Parisienne Motel in Eunice and had the Jr. Boutique in 1970 in Eunice.

Mrs. Wilda is survived by her two daughters, Jorgi Shipley and her friend, George of Atlanta, GA and Skye Shipley; four step children, Margaret Gaddis and husband, Ken of Denham Springs, Dr. Van Christian and wife, Karen of Opelousas, Christy Thomas and (Bob) of Thomaston, GA, and Mark Christian and (Rita) of New Orleans; grandchildren, Ceil Ardoin, Loren Thibodeaux, Christina Speyrer, Courtney Shields, Chris Gaddis, Ashley Gaddis, Casey Gaddis, Keelie Gaddis, Piper Oubre, Sommer Arceaneaux, Christopher Thomas, and Candice Thomas. She is also survived by 24 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Wilda is preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Dr. P.H. Christian; grandson, Nikolas Schumacher; parents, Clonny and Earnestine Savoy; brothers, Melvin, Clifton, and Nelson Savoy; and grandson, Michael Gaddis.

The family would like to extend special thanks to her caregivers, Gloria, Audrey, Claudia, Rikisha and Betty. They would also like to thank the staff of Louisiana Hospice and Palliative Care for their excellent service.
