Warren Norton, Sr.

Grand Coteau-- Warren Norton Sr., entered into the arms of his Heavenly Father on January 26th at 8:00 p.m. in Opelousas, Louisiana, leaving behind his wife of 72 years, Lorraine Norton. Mr. Norton was born on Oct. 25, 1923 in New Orleans, Louisiana. He attended St. Peter's high school. Warren was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was also part of the Greatest Generation, serving in Belgium in the US Army during World War 2. After the war, he returned home to New Orleans, and worked his entire post-war career in various positions as a civilian at the US Naval Shipyard in New Orleans. He then retired in Waveland, MS, and spent 21 years there until Hurricane Katrina sent him to The Acadiana area. Warren, known as "Sneaky" to his family, was a devout Catholic who lived his faith through his daily actions and his dedication to his family. He was loved by all whom he met. Mr. Norton was preceded in death by his brother Raymond and his daughter Elizabeth Duplantis. He leaves behind his wife Lorraine, son Warren Norton Jr, daughter-in-law Linda Norton, grandchildren, Christian (Yon) Norton, Dr. Chad Duplantis and Ellen Duplantis of Keller, Texas, Todd Duplantis and Laura Duplantis of Houston, Texas and his great- grandchildren, Josh Duplantis, Gabriele Duplantis, Austin Duplantis and Ava Duplantis. Funeral services will be held at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Grand Coteau, on Thursday January 29 at 11 a.m. with the viewing at 9 a.m. In lieu of flowers the family is asking that donations be made in Mr. Norton's name to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
