OPELOUSAS – It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Wanda Faye Sittig announces her passing on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at the age of 66. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at 10:00 AM at St. Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas with Msgr. Russell Harrington as Celebrant. Burial will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery.
Wanda Faye Sittig was born November 24, 1954 in Opelousas, Louisiana to Johnnie and Lola Lalonde. Wanda enjoyed being outdoors especially when gardening, fishing, and camping. Her Catholic faith was very important to her and she raised her family to share that faith. Wanda was an LPN by trade and when not working enjoyed cooking for and taking care of her family. She was also involved in her community having been a member of the Red Hat Society and the CACTI 35th Infantry Association. This special lady will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Wanda is survived by her husband of 51 years, Roy Sittig; two sons, Scott and Jonathon Sittig; daughter in law, Sarah Sittig; five grandchildren, Kennedy Sittig, Aubrianna Sittig, Andrew Sittig, Alex Sittig, and Hayston Sittig; and her Godchild, Liz Miller. Also left behind to cherish her memory are her brother Ricky Lalonde and wife, Jackie, and sisters, Ethe Latiolais of Breaux Bridge, Jane Artigue and husband, Harris of Arnaudville, Nell Begnaud and husband, Carrol of Cecilia, Shirley Quebedeaux and husband, James of Washington, and Flo Dupre and husband, Joe of Prairie Rhonde.
She now rests in Heaven with her parents, Johnnie and Lola Lalonde; mother-in-law, Josephine Fisher; and brothers Harry and Curtis Lalonde.
At the request of the family, a visitation will be observed at Sibille Funeral Home in Opelousas on Monday, June 14, 2021 from 5:00 PM until time of service on Tuesday. A rosary will be prayed in her honor Monday evening at 7:00 PM.
Pallbearers for the service are: Ricky Lalonde, Jonathon Sittig, Kevin Lalonde, James Lalonde, Brad Dupre, and Daniel Franks.
The family wishes to send a gracious thank you to Hope Hospice, Dr. Allemony, Nicole Deaville, and Becky McCullaugh. Their passionate and heartfelt care of Wanda was comforting in their time of need.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Sibille Funeral Home in Opelousas.
