Port Barre Funeral services for Mrs. Virgie Lee LeJeune Traylor, age 79, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 23, 2011, in the First Baptist Church in Port Barre. Interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park.
Rev. Benji Richard will officiate the services.
Virgie was a native of Notleyville and was a longtime resident of Port Barre. She died on Wednesday, July 20, 2011, at her residence.
She was a retired Physical Education teacher from Port Barre High School where she worked for over 20 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Port Barre, attended Bible Study, and was a Sunday school teacher for over 50 years. She enjoyed spending time visiting with her family, collecting cookbooks, doing crochet and genealogy, and shopping for antiques at flea markets. She was a wonderful and loving wife of 55 years, and a very devoted mother, sister, aunt, friend, and grandmother.
Survivors include her husband, Gene Traylor of Port Barre three daughters, Kathy Traylor of Destin, FL Nancy Fountain and husband, David of Lumberton, TX and Lisa Wilson and husband, Doug of Ridgeland, MS one brother, Moise LeJeune, Jr. of Port Barre two sisters, Cecelia Partin and Maggie Traylor, both of Port Barre and 5 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Moise LeJeune, Sr. and Dora Arceneaux LeJeune and two brothers, Bobby and Al LeJeune.
Pallbearers will be Steve Traylor, Tim Fountain, Phil Fountain, Joe Dowden, David Fountain, Doug Wilson, Tracy LeJeune, and Deon Boudreaux.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Port Barre on Friday, July 22, 2011, from 5:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. On Saturday, visitation will continue in the funeral home from 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m.
