PORT BARRE- A Mass of Christian of Burial will be held for Vicky Ann Race at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 2, 2021, in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Port Barre. Monsignor W. Curtis Mallet, Vicar General for the Lafayette Diocese will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Vicky, age 65, a resident of Port Barre, passed away on Wednesday, December 30, 2020.

Vicky was dedicated to her family and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was a beloved teacher aid for Port Barre Elementary for many years. Vicky will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her son, Jonathan Race and his wife, Deborah of Port Barre; three grandchildren, Aubrey, Tucker and Lucas Race; brother, Edward Barron and his wife, Veronica of Port Barre; and sister, Jeanette Mallet of Leonville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Race; her parents, Delman and Louisiana Barron; and her sister, Mary Bergeron.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 1, 2021 from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Sibille Funeral Home in Opelousas. The rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. Friday evening by Fr. Clint Trahan and Monsignor W. Curtis Mallet, Vicar General for the Lafayette Diocese. Visitation will resume on Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.
