Verval Wheaton

Port BarreFuneral services for Mrs. Verval Marie Savant Wheaton, known to many as Bay, will be held on Friday, July 22, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Father Daniel Picard will celebrate the Mass.

Verval was born and raised in Whiteville, LA, and was a longtime resident of Port Barre. She died at her residence on Wednesday, July 20, 2011, at the age of 75.
Verval was a devoted wife to James Andrew Bill Wheaton, Sr. for 54 years and was a loving mother to five children. She was an active member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, belonging to the Ladies Altar Society, Friends Helping Friends, neighborhood rosary group, and was a catechism teacher and a reader at Mass. She was especially proud of the Bishops Service Award that she received in recognition of her dedicated service. Her devotion to the Blessed Mother led her on a pilgrimage to Medjugorje in 1989. She was an avid football fan and particularly loved her Dallas Cowboys and even attended one of their home games. She loved game shows, Conway Twitty, and tending to her flower beds.

Survivors include her five children: Billy Jo Muller and husband, Stan of Washington Rebecca Becky Hardy and husband, Sammy of Port Barre Brigitte Ann Wyble and husband, Mike of Port Barre James Andrew Andy Wheaton, Jr. of Port Barre and Donna Wheaton Meaux of Rayne two sisters: Edna Mae Cummings and Betty Arnold Bostick, both of Hobbs, New Mexico and eleven grandchildren: Natalie Chelette, Christie Vercher, Joshua Hardy, Jake Wyble, Alison Schoeffler, James Andrew Wheaton III, Derek Wyble, Mark Muller, Desiree Wheaton, Sam Hardy, and Tracie Wheaton also ten greatgrandchildren: Grantt and Grace Chelette, Kyle Hebert, and Drake Hardy, Eli and Levi Vercher, Cohen and Luci Belle Dean, Johanna Schoeffler, and Evan Wyble and four godchildren: Johnny Ray Hargroder, Sharon Devillier, June Wheaton Griffin, and Gabriel Turner.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Andrew Bill Wheaton, Sr., her parents, Lloyd and Edna Savant her brother, Gerald Savant and her sister, Ethel Gene Hukins.

Pallbearers will be her six grandsons: Joshua Hardy, Jake Wyble, Andrew Wheaton, Derek Wyble, Mark Muller, and Sam Hardy.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 21, 2011, from 3:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home of Port Barre. On Friday, visitation will continue in the funeral home from 8 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.

A Rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday evening in the funeral home.
