Vernice Prevost

Prairie Ronde Funeral services for Mrs. Vernice Bertrand Prevost, 94, will be held at 10: 00 AM on Monday, September 3, 2007, in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Prairie Ronde, followed by interment in the church cemetery.

The Reverend Daniel Picard will officiate the Mass of Christian Burial and the Reverend Conley Bertrand will concelebrate.

Mrs. Prevost was a native of Praire Ronde, longtime resident of Opelousas and resident of Bethany Nursing Home in Lafayette since July 3, 2000. She died at 11:10 a.m. on Friday, August 31, 2007 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette after complications subsequent to breaking her hip.

Mrs. Prevost has gone to meet the Lord and will greatly missed by many. During her stay at Bethany Nursing Home, Vernice had been a regular participant in all of the social activities. She was loved by all there and will be greatly missed. She dearly loved her visits with family, and especially with her grandchildren. Even though she was legally blind, she was an avid fisherman and frequently caught fish when others couldn't.

Survivors include one sister, Sister Gabriella, M.H.S. Aunt Bobbie; children, Daniel Dean and Cindy Prevost, Ada Vilardo, Janice and Sidney Hartiens, Leona and John Lavergne, Meyona and Terry Matte, Marilyn and Fred Noel, and Stephanie Manuel; daughters-in-law, Bonnie Prevost, Susan Prevost, and Linda Prevost Valot;28 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Vernice Momma Pro was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Robert Prevost; children, Charles Glen Prevost, Ramon Joseph Prevost, and Roderick Frank Prevost; grandson, Troy David Vilardo; siblings, Lou Anna Ledoux, Hilton Bertrand, Marina Bertrand, Virgin Bertrand, Hilman Bertrand, Sister Anna Lee,M.H.S, Abner Bertrand, Anna Belle Bertrand, and Lena Ray Bertrand and son-in-law, Johnny Manuel.
