Verdnay Ledoux

June 24, 1928 — January 2, 2019

Verdnay Darbonne LeDoux peacefully departed from this life to her eternal home on January 2, 2019 in Lebeau, Louisiana. She was the daughter of the late Oscar and Genevieve Darbonne and was born on June 24, 1928 in Prairie Ronde, Louisiana. She was united in marriage on October 22, 1946 to the love of her life, Alcide LeDoux, Sr.

As a mother and grandmother, she provided a foundation of love and nurturing throughout her family's life. She was a faithful member of the First Pentecostal Church of Bayou Rouge, Louisiana for 71 years where she served as song leader and auxiliary leader for many years. She worked tirelessly cooking for church barbeques, fellowship meetings and youth rallies. Her chicken salad recipe was known and enjoyed by many. She was a devoted prayer warrior and lived her life with a constant hope of heaven. Verdnay worked many years in the cafeterias of both Palmetto Elementary and High Schools. Many of the children affectionately referred to her as "granny". She cherished and lovingly treasured all her friendships with the children, teachers, principals and co-workers.

Verdnay was preceded in death by her husband Alcide LeDoux, Sr., son Alcide LeDoux, Jr. and great-granddaughter Macie LeDoux; brothers, Fred, Hubert, and Rallie Darbonne; sisters, Ella Mae Phillips, Ursie Guillot, Rena Ledoux, Virginia Phillips, Lora Mae Davidson, Amarone Soileau, Velma Escott, LeeAnna Firmin, Glade Lavergne and Ivy Pitre.

Her life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children, sons, Billy Dale LeDoux and wife Diane of Youngsville, Louisiana, Adrian Lynn LeDoux and wife Nelma of Palmetto, Louisiana; daughter-in-love, Brenda LeDoux of Jackson, Mississippi; daughter Angela Francine Jacks and husband Jimmy of Friendswood, Texas; eight grandchildren, Travis LeDoux (Griselda), Toby LeDoux (Shantele), Scott LeDoux (Lucie), Jody LeDoux (Nikki), Heidi Turner (Jeremy), Jeremy LeDoux (Michelle), Shandi Jacks and Kale Jacks; 14 great-grandchildren, Landon, Khyl, Jacob, Aden, William, Zachary, Sadie, Savannah (Dylan), Holden, Ethan, Adriana, Anderson, Adrian and Peyton; and 1 great-great-granddaughter, Paisley Courville.

A visitation and celebration of her life will be held Saturday, January 5, 2019 (visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. and service at 2:00 p.m.) at the First Pentecostal Church of Bayou Rouge, Louisiana. The church address is 1818 Hwy 360 Palmetto, Louisiana 71358.
