Vera Gertrude Addotto

Grand Coteau, La Funeral services for Mrs. Vera Gertrude Addotto, age 89, were held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 28, 2007, in the St. Charles Catholic Church in Grand Coteau, La. Interment followed in the St. Charles Cemetery.

Rev. James Lambert officiated the services.

Mrs. Vera was a native of New Orleans and life long resident of Opelousas, La. She died on Thursday, December 27, 2007, in her home.

Survivors include her sons, Alan Addotto and wife Bonnie of Carencro; Anthony Guy Addotto, Jr and wife, Yolande of Opelousas; daughters: Mrs. Ann Addotto Bihm and husband, Tracy of Sunset; Mrs. Peggy Clawson and husband, Raibon of Carver, MN; Mrs. Jeanne Coussan and husband, Robert of Lafayette; Ms. Lisa Addotto Godeaux of Lafayette; Mrs. Donna Courville and husband, Wayne of Katy, TX; sister, Delores Eleser of Slidell; brother, Glenn East of Metairie; 14 Grandchildren, and 11 Great Grandchildren.

Mrs. Vera was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony Tony Addotto; and her parents: Clarence and Stella Morris East, and a son-in-law Gene Godeaux.

Mrs. Vera was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She loved her family dearly and loved them unconditionally. She enjoyed cooking for family and friends and loved her baseball games, especially the Atlanta Braves. As a young woman she loved to go dancing with her friends and family. Ms. Vera was a very devoted woman of faith, loved her Lord and Church. She knew that her time here on Earth was short but because of her faith she was ready to meet her Lord and now is enjoying the place of rest and joy in Heaven.

Visiting hours were observed on Thursday, December 27, 2007, in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas beginning at 5:00 pm until 10:00 p.m. On Friday, visitation continued from 8:00 am until time of service. A Rosary was recited at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday night.
