Velva Mae Scruggins Council

Port Barre Funeral services for Mrs. Velva Mae Scruggins Council will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 27, 2010, with a Mass of Christian Burial in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Father Daniel Picard will celebrate the Mass.
Mrs. Council was a longtime resident of Port Barre. She died on Tuesday, August 24, 2010, in the Opelousas General Health System. After 71 years with us, Mae Council will go Home to once again be with her patents and siblings whom have been waiting to welcome her into the Kingdom of Heaven.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Roy Council and raised three children. She leaves her children to cherish her memory: Roy Donald Council and wife, Eva Jimmy Council, and Sandra Armand and husband, John. She took great pleasure in her grandchildren which include: Shane Council, Brady Council, Jeremy Council, Daris Council, Julie Council, Derrick Armand and wife, Michelle, Willis Armand and Wendy Armand. The special little ones in her life include her greatgrandchildren: Lauren Council, Anna Council, Lindsay Council, Kolby Council and Iley Armand. She also has four brothers: Tommy Scruggins, Robert Scruggins, Jerry Scruggins, and Joseph Tee Scruggins and three sisters: Judy Credeur, Peggy Romero, and Debra Ortego.
Her beloved grandsons and soninlaw will serve as pallbearers.
Visiting hours will be observed on Thursday, August 26 in the Sibille Funeral Home of Port Barre from 3 10 p.m. On Friday, visitation will continue from 8 a.m. until 9:45 a.m.
A Rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday evening in the funeral home.
