Velma Folks Lanclos

Opelousas Funeral services for Mrs. Velma Folks Lanclos, 69, will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 20, 2008, in St. Landry Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas.

Msgr. Romero will conduct the services.

Mrs. Velma, a native of Church Point, LA and a long-time resident of Opelousas, died at 1:35 p.m. on Sunday, March 16, 2008 at Opelousas General Health System.

Mrs. Velma was a homemaker and was her favorite pastime was spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. She was a devoted wife of 44 years, a loving mother, and grandmother.

Survivors include three sons: Ritchie Paul Lanclos and wife, Courtney of Mandeville; Keith James Lanclos and wife, Donna of Port Barre; and Mark Christopher Lanclos and wife, Dawn of Leonville; two daughters: Michelle Renee Lanclos Wiltz and husband, Paul of Parks; and Kelly Elizabeth Lanclos Crosier and husband, Kevin of Columbia, Illinois; father, Ivory Folks and wife, Dora Jane Folks of Opelousas; two sisters: Dean Verette and husband, Michael of Lafayette; and Bonnie Williams and husband, Hall of New Iberia; one brother-In-law, Wilson Lanclos and wife, Carol of North Aurora, Illinois; and one sister-in-law, Florence Richard and husband, Charles of North Aurora, Illinois;. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Emilie, Claire, Brennan, Bailee, Dawson, Amaryllis, Lauren, Ethan, and Madeline.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Curley Joseph Lanclos; one son, Scotty Wayne Lanclos; her mother, Rena Thibodeaux Folks; and one sister, Juanita Hernandez.

Visiting hours will be observed from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, March 19 in the Sibille Funeral Home. On Thursday, visitation will continue from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home.

A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday in the funeral home.
