Velma Guillory

OpelousasA Mass of Christian Burial for Velma Guillory will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 11, 2014, in the St. Ann Catholic Church. Fr. Justin Arockiasamy will concelebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow in the Holy Family Cemetery.
Velma was born and raised Pot Cove, LA., and resided in Lawtell in the time of her death. She passed away on Saturday, October 4, 2014, at Oak Lane Rehab Center, at the age of 86. Velma was in the Ladies Auxiliary St. John Court 39, Altar Society, Josephites Senior Club, St. Anns and Holy Family church choir. She enjoyed singing, cooking, baking, dancing, sewing, gardening, farming and talking, she was always willing to help in the community.

She is survived by her sons, Michael Guillory, Sr. and his wife, Sharon, Robert Glenn Guillory, and Patrick Guillory his fianc, Angela , daughters, Octavia Guillory, Mary Catherine Snyder, and her husband, Johnny, and Mary Alma Waller and her husband, Roy, her bother, Anthony Rene, and his wife, Mary Ann, brotherinlaw, Collins Guillory, Jr. and his wife, Marie, her sisters, Eva Leger Chachere, and Katherine Thompson, fifteen grandchildren, twenty six greatgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Leroy Guillory, her parents, Antoine and Alma Reney, her brother, Armond Declouette, her sister, Versie Johnwell, her son, Phillip Charles Guillory, and her daughter, Patricia Guillory.

Visiting hours will be observed in the St. Ann Catholic Church, on Saturday, October 11, 2014, from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon. A Rosary service will be held at 9:00 a.m.
