LAWTELL- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Valerie Guillory Leger at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 29, 2019, in the St. Bridget Catholic Church in Lawtell. Fr. Austin Leger will celebrate the Mass. Readers will be Sally Care and Joanne Costanza. Gift bearers will be Chance and Drake Angelle. Rite of Committal will follow in the St. Bridget Cemetery.
Valerie, age 69, a resident of Opelousas, passed away on Thursday, April 25, 2019, at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.
Valerie was a loving mother and wife who enjoyed cross stitching, caring for children, fishing and spending time at the camp. She also loved going sit and listen to music at the French and Cajun music festivals. However, what she cherished most was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Charles Leger; her daughter, Susan Angelle and husband, Brian; her grandchildren, Chance and Drake Angelle; and her sisters, Barbara Lafleur, Linda Daigle and Connie Guillory.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Guillory and Frazine Richard Guillory; her brothers, Perry Guillory and infant Charles Guillory; and her sister, Janelle Fontenot.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 28, 2019, from 12:00 noon until 10:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home in Opelousas. A Rosary Service will be prayed by Fr. Austin Leger at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday. Visitation will continue from 8:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. on Monday, April 29, 2019.
Pallbearers will be Chance Angelle, Brad Care, Bobby Leger, Daniel Venable, David Hebert and Ralph Daigle. Honorary pallbearers will be Drake Angelle and Roland Fontenot, Jr.
