Opelousas- Funeral service for Uriah Phillips, Jr. will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 26, 2016, in Sibille Funeral Home Chapel, Brother Perry Hubbs will officiate the service. Rite of Committal and interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery. A Military service will be held at grave side.
Uriah, a resident of Opelousas, passed away on Tuesday, August 23, 2016, at his home, at the age of 90. Uriah was a veteran of the Marine Corps he fought in the 2nd world war, he was part of the occupation of Japan after its surrender, stationed in Sasebo, Japan. He was a member of the 1st Baptist church in Opelousas, and he also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening.
Survivors include his loving wife of 65 years, Mrs. Lessie Rose Phillips, of Opelousas, his son, Uriah "Chip" Phillips, III, and his wife, Joley, of Broussard, his sister, Dolores Dryden of Charlotte, North Carolina, and 1 grandchild, Brandon Phillips.
Preceeded in death by his parents, Uriah Phillips, Sr. and Eula Lee Phillips, brothers, Marvin, David, Neal and Henry Ben Phillips.
Pallbearers, "Chip" Phillips, Brandon Phillips, Elmer Dryden, Doug Gibson, Heath Woodrum, and Bobby Simon.
The family would like to send a special thanks to Dr. Hunt DeBlanc, Dr. Craig Greene, Serenity Home Health Care, Isabelle Gilcrest, and Brother, Perry Hubbs.
Visitation will be on Friday, August 26, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. until time of 11:00 a.m. service.
