Tracie Kirkpatrick Carriere

Opelousas A celebration of the life of Tracie Kirkpatrick Carriere, 45, will be held during a Memorial Mass at 11:00 am, Saturday, January 6, 2007, at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church.

Tracie passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, January 2, 2007. Always at home in a crowd, she was surrounded by several members of her beloved family. Those who were separated by distance were able to communicate with her during her final moments.

She was Mom to her children, Krisi, Johnny, and Derrick Carriere and Mammy to her grandchildren, Carsyn, Connolly, Carlyle, and Derrick. She was a sister to Trish, Trina, Kirk, Terri, and K.K. Kirkpatrick. She was also survived by many other family members, including her step-children, Angie, Kevin, and Bryce Richard; her step-grandchild, Wyatt; her mother, Sue Kirkpatrick; her aunts Claudette Richard, Mary Richard, and Etta Oberhoff; her grandfather, Lee Guidry; her cousins, Briar, Deni, Patricia, and Irene; her nieces and nephews, Jordyn, Landon, Angelique, and Aleisha; plus her extended family, Adrian Savoie, Clayton Runfalo, Amber Carriere, Allison Richard, and Elwood Oberhoff.

Preparing the way for Tracie were her father, G.E. Kirkpatrick, Jr.; her niece, Jade Kirkpatrick; her grandparents, Benjamin Frances Richard, Bernice Guidry, and G.E. Mary Kirkpatrick, Sr.; her uncle Benny Richard; and her aunt Marlene Richard.

Tracie was loved and admired by many people. Those who knew her will remember her endless supply of energy and the passion with which she approached everything she did. She loved people, animals, and the outdoors. She never met a stranger and immediately befriended everyone with whom she came in contact. She became a substitute mother to everyone in need. All stray pets were welcome at her house. If she couldnt keep them, she found a home for them. She loved gardening. Her life was filled with plants and flowers of all varieties, but her favorites were yellow. She spent countless hours working to leave this world better and brighter than the way she found it.
