Tonas Bill Guillory

Port Barre Funeral services for Mr. Tonas Bill Guillory, age 79, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 4, 2009, in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Port Barre. Rev. Dore Langlais will officiate the services.

Mr. Guillory was a native and life-long resident of Port Barre. He died on Sunday, March 1, 2009, at his residence.

He graduated from Port Barre High School. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Port Barre; Opelousas Elks Lodge; Knights of Columbus of Port Barre; and an Honorary member of the LA National Guard Opelousas Division.

Early in his career, he was an experimental cotton and soybean farmer for the LSU Agriculture Department. As his farming years progressed, he became a successful farmer in his own right. He was also a successful businessman as owner of Southside Oil and Kings Truck Stop in Port Barre. He was a loving father whose children were his world. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his children: Dylan Guillory of Port Barre; Blane Guillory of Opelousas, Rachael Guillory of Opelousas; Roxanne Guillory and husband, Matt Lane, of Lafayette; Paulette G. Olivier and husband, John, of Opelousas; eight grandchildren: Jessica Englebrooke; Rachelle Guillory, Kaitlyn Guillory, Lettie Guillory, English Guillory, John D. Olivier, Leah Potter, and Whitney Olivier; and one great-grandchild, Georgia Potter. He also leaves behind his former spouses, Judy Guillory and Elizabeth Hoover, and a host of friends and neighbors.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Athansas and Louise Twedell Guillory; brothers: Delman Guillory, Roderick Guillory, Fredrick Guillory, and Howard Guillory; sister, Bella Soileau; and first wife, Dorsey Dauzat.
