Port Barre- A Funeral Service will be held for Tillman Earl Jones Jr., on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Port Barre. Fr Clint Trahan will conduct the service. A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Port Barre. Burial will follow in the Sacred Heart Mausoleum.
Tillman Earl Jones Jr., a beloved soul who graced this world with his presence, bid farewell to his earthly journey on April 30, 2024, at The Carpenter House in Lafayette, Louisiana. He was born on March 27, 1937, in the quaint town of Melville, Louisiana.
Tillman's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with threads of love, kindness, and passion for life. He was a man of many interests and hobbies; from hunting in the quiet wilderness to casting his line into serene waters for a day of fishing. Golf and bowling were not just games for him but avenues where he formed lasting bonds with friends and family.
Tillman is survived by his wife of 66 years, Joanna Morris Jones; son, Steven Mark Jones and wife Debbie of Virginia; daughter, Melissa Anne Jones and husband Luc Guglielmi of Georgia; sister, Donna Lee York of Baton Rouge, son in-law, Donald Mark Bonin and 3 grandchildren, Sarah Elizabeth Bonin, Mary- Caroline Bonin Langford, and Lily Anne Jones.
Tillman is preceded in death by his parents, Tillman Earl Jones Sr. & Thelma Lee Jones; daughter, Elizabeth Jones Bonin and brother, Dale Lynn Jones.
His spirit will forever be cherished by those who knew him well. Tillman leaves behind a legacy that will continue to inspire generations to come. In this time of mourning, we find solace in the memories we shared with him and in the knowledge that his warmth will always remain in our hearts.
