Opelousas-- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Theresa Leday Thibodeaux, on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. in the St. Ann Catholic Church in Mallet, Louisiana, Burial will follow in the St. Ann Cemetery in Mallet, Louisiana.
Theresa Thibodeaux, a beloved member of her community and a nurturing spirit, passed away on January 18, 2025, at her home, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on January 30, 1936, in Mallet, Louisiana, she embodied warmth and affection throughout her life and deeply cherished her family and friends.
Theresa dedicated herself to her vocation as a cook at Lawtell Elementary, where she not only fed the students but enriched their lives with her kindness and care. She was renowned for her culinary skills and her passion for cooking, which extended beyond her professional life into her cherished home, where meals were always a celebration of love.
A devoted wife and mother, Theresa's heart overflowed with love for her family. She is survived by her husband, Goldman Thibodeaux of Mallet; her sons, Charles Thibodeaux, of Lafayette, and Dana Thibodeaux, of Opelousas; her sister, Leonna Leday Johnson of Church Point; and her beloved grandchildren, Taylor J., Miles, Hailey, Trent, and Brock "Bat" Thibodeaux. She also leaves behind one great granddaughter, Luna Thibodeaux, who brought immense joy to her later years.
Theresa's interests included sewing and gardening, each of which she pursued with passion, sharing the fruits of her labor with loved ones. Her home was a haven of color and creativity, reflecting her nurturing nature and zest for life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leroy and Lula Leday; her grandparents, Charles and Elvora DuRosseau; and her brother, Robert Leday.
Theresa Thibodeaux will forever be remembered as a very loving person whose heart was centered on her family. Her spirit will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 24, 2025 from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas. A Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home Friday evening, on Saturday, January 25, 2025 visitation will resume at 7:00 a.m. until time of service.
