Theresa Briley

A Memorial Service for Theresa Joubert Briley will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 21, 2017, in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas. The Very Monsignor Keith DeRouen will conduct the service. Interment will follow at the Holy Sepulcher Mausoleum.

Mrs. Briley, age 83, passed away Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at her residence in Opelousas surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Briley enjoyed gardening, cooking and spending time with her husband and family. In her spare time, she made beautiful floral arrangements that brightened their home. She was the rock that kept her family together; which was no easy task. Her husband, James came first in her life then her family. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, James "Jim" Charles Briley; sons, Cliff Briley and wife, Debbie, and Chuck Briley; daughter, Denise Briley Meriwether and husband, William "Bill"; grandchildren, Tara Roberts Fontenot and her husband, Haven, Dustin Roberts and fiancé, Jamy Galloway, Jared Briley, Lindsey Briley Roy and husband, Tyler, Megan Briley and fiancé, Caleb Ardoin, Kasie Briley, Alycee Briley Wheaton and husband, Devin; great-grandchildren, Gavin and Eliot Fontenot, Bella and Piper Ardoin, William, Thomas and Jude Roy, Olivia and Thomas Estelette, Ily and Marley Roberts and Thomas Wheaton; sister-in-laws, Rita Soileau and husband Warren, Eloise Lafleur and husband, Marshall, and Winnie Gamber and husband, James; brother-in-laws, Clyde Briley and wife, Mary, and Archie Briley and wife, Barbara.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Evariste and Mathilda Joubert; brothers, Sam Joubert and James Joubert and her sister, Grace Dohmaonn.

The family would like to offer a special thanks to her caregiver and good friend, Janice Barnes and her closest friend, Mary Anne Andrepont.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, April 21, 2017, from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas. A Rosary will be prayed at 1:30 p.m. by the Very Monsignor Keith DeRouen.
