Opelousas- Funeral services for Thelma M. Spell, age 73, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, November 9, 2009, at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church and interment will follow in Bellevue Memorial Park. Father Angelo Cremaldi will conduct the Mass of Christian Burial. Readers for the Mass will be Paul Veazey, Jr. and Suzanne Hicks. Ms. Valerie Andrus will provide the following musical selections, Amazing Grace, Hail Mary, Gentle Woman, Here I am Lord, On Eagles Wings and The Old Rugged Cross.BRBR

Mrs. Spell was born in Bristol, LA. and died on November 6, 2009, at Lafayette General Hospital. Ms. Thelma was a very loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She is going to be sadly missed by everyone.

Mrs. Spell is survived by her husband of 56 years, Paul Oran Spell of Opelousas; sons, Patrick Spell and wife Donna of Sunset, Bryan K. Spell of Opelousas; brothers, Jerry Venable, Jr. and wife Delores of Lafayette, Lawrence Venable and wife Lou of Bunkie; grandchildren, Blake Spell and wife Jessica of Lewisburg and Kylie Spell of Sunset.

Mrs. Thelma was preceded in death by her parents, Jerry, Sr. and Eugenia Stelly Venable; grandson, Randall Spell; granddaughter, Lacey Spell; brother, George Venable; sister, Mildred Dugas; sister-in-law, Mildred Venable.

Pallbearers will be Patrick Spell, Blake Spell, Lawrence Venable, James Spell, Rayford Sonny Dugas, and Loyton Sonnier and the Honorary Pallbearers will be Bryan Spell and Jerry Venable, Jr.

Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home on Sunday, November 8, 2009, from 11:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. and on Monday from 8:00 a.m. until time of service.

A Rosary will be recited on Sunday night at 6:00 p.m.
