Grand Coteau Funeral services for Mrs. Thelma C. Guilbeau, the former Thelma Cummings, 83, will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 14, 2006, in St. Charles Catholic Church in Grand Coteau with a Mass of Christian Burial and interment will follow in Bellevue Memorial Park of Opelousas.

Mrs. Guilbeau, a long-time resident of Sunset, died at 7:45 p.m. on Wednesday, October 11, 2006, at her residence. She was a member of the St. Charles Catholic Church of Grand Coteau. She was a banker for over 44 years with the Bank of Sunset and Trust Company. She enjoyed gardening and will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include: one niece, Mrs. June Visser of Houston, TX; and two nephews: Dr. Lewis Cummings and Mr. George R. Cummings, both of Lafayette. She is also survived by a host of cousins and friends.

Mrs. Thelma was preceded in death by her husband, James Howard Guilbeau, Sr; one son, James Jamie Howard Guilbeau, Jr.; parents: Edward and Noamie Sibille Guilbeau; one sister, Clo Lisenbee; and two brothers: Earl Cummings and Andy Cummings.

Visiting hours will be observed from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday, October 13, 2006, in the Sibille Funeral Home of Grand Coteau. On Saturday, visitation will continue in the funeral home from 8 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.

A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Friday in the funeral home.
