Port Barre A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 7, 2013, at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church of Leonville for Mr. Terry Joseph Nolty Stelly. Rite of Committal and interment will follow in St. Leo Cemetery. Rev. Kenneth Domingue will celebrate the Mass.
Terry was a native of Opelousas and life long resident of Port Barre. He passed away on Thursday, February 28, 2013, at Opelousas General Health System at the age of 61.
He was a master carpenter and built beautiful furniture for many years. He was a member of the Carpenters Local Union. He would enjoy fishing and playing the guitar as a pastime.
Survivors include one son, Shane Stelly and wife, Megan of Port Barre one daughter, Rachel Leger and husband, Kenneth of Port Barre two brothers, Norvan Stelly and wife, Janice of Opelousas and Donald Stelly and wife, Velma of Krotz Springs four sisters, Etheline Callaway of Crowley Marylyce Stelly of Opelousas Patricia Pat Thomassee and husband, Floyd of Fordoche and Verna Lanclos of Port Barre and four grandchildren, Caleb Stelly, Mauri Leger, Madelyn Leger, and Mason Leger, all of Port Barre.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nolty Stelly and Theresa Lalonde Stelly one brother, Jessie Sonny Stelly and one sister, Velma Stoute.
Pallbearers will be Shane Stelly, Kenneth Leger, Ronald Ronnie Robin, Jr., Jody Stelly, Greg Stelly, and Ray Lanclos. Honorary pallbearers will be L. J. Thibodeaux, Mason Leger, and Caleb Stelly.
The family requests that visiting hours be held on Thursday, March 7, 2013, from 10:00 a.m.1:30 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home of Port Barre. A Rosary service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday in the funeral home.
