Port Barre Funeral services for Mrs. Sylvia Faul Martin, 80, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 14, 2006, with a Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial following in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Port Barre.

Father Nicky Trahan will conduct the services.

Mrs. Martin was a native of Church Point and a long time resident of Port Barre. She died at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 12, 2006, at J. Michael Morrow Memorial Nursing Home in Arnaudville, LA. She was a devoted wife and a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Survivors include five sons: John Allen Martin and wife, Marie Elaine of Port Barre; Elgie Martin and wife, Dolores of Port Barre; Joseph Murphy Martin and wife, Judy of Eunice; Raymond Martin of Port Barre; and Robert Martin and wife, Fay of Opelousas; two daughters: Jeanette Kidder and husband, James of Port Barre; and Geraldine Stelly and husband, Louis of Plaisance; 18 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by her husband, Alger L.J. Martin, Jr.; her parents, Felix and Amment Leger Faul; four brothers: Calius, Louis, Jack and Augustine Faul; and four sisters: Rose Janise, Felicia Gay, Mary Torres, and Odile Faul.

Visiting hours will be observed from 10 a.m. on Thursday with an all night wake in the Sibille Funeral Home of Port Barre until the time of services on Friday.

A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday in the funeral home.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sibille Funeral Home of Port Barre.
