Sylvan Charles DAvy
Opelousas Time of Rememberance service for Sylvan Charles DAvy will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. at Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas, La. Interment will be held at St. Landry Catholic Church Cemetery in Opelousas, LA.
Mr. DAvy died on Saturday, June 28, 2014, at the age of 81 at his home in Opelousas with his family and friends by his side. Mr. Sylvan retired from the St. Landry School System after 30 years of service. In his lifetime he worked for the U. S. Department of Agriculture overseeing plant pest control, National Forest and the processing of foods. As a retired school teacher, Sylvan delighted in meeting former students, hearing of their adult accomplishments and endeavors. He was very proud of the part that he played in their lives. Mr. DAvy was the unforgetable biology teacher to so many. To his family and friends Sylvan was the unique, loquacious one who loved to teach lessons and tell stories. Sylvan enjoyed the times he spent with his family and friends he is going to be sadly missed by all that knew and loved him.
Mr. Sylvan is survived by his son, Richard DAvy and wife Elisa of Del Rio, TX daughter, Jennifer Ellen DAvy of Sunset sister, Lillian Jacqueline DAvy of Cave city, KY grandchildren, Richard Ricky DAvy and Erin Cecilia DAvy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clayton and Jeanne Marie Ducote DAvy, Sr. son, Perry Alan DAvy brothers, Clayton DAvy, Jr., Gayle DAvy sisters, Earlene Dolores Bond and Gloria Ellen Acker.
Mr. Sylvans family would like to thank Betty and Lee Cormier for their untiring assistance, love and dedication, along with Sylvans Godson Donald DAvy and Drs. Montgomery and Cole, and La. Hospice and Palliative.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, July 1, 2014, from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and reopen on Wednesday at 8:00 a.m. until time for service at Sibille Funeral Home.
