Opelousas A Mass of Christian Burial for Stephen Paul Sebastien will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 25, 2014, at St. Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas. Rev. Fr. James Brady will celebrate the Mass. The Readings for the Mass will be done by Katie Bouchereau and Beverly Brown. The musical selections will be provided by Sharee Hunter.

Stephen was a native and longtime resident of Opelousas. He passed away on Thursday, May 22, 2014, in Washington at the age of 42. He was in the Community Healthcare Marketing industry for many years. His love for sharing and helping others was granted through his gift of donation. His memory will live on through that wonderful gift. He was loved by all and had a great personality. His passion for life was his love for artwork. He loved entertaining, helping with charity functions, community events, and spending time with his family and friends. He was a strong supporter for American Cancer Society Relay for Life and the American Heart Association.

He is survived by one son, Ashton Sebastien of Lafayette one grandson, Daimen Paul Sebastien of Lafayette his stepfather, Dr. Charles C. Bertrand of Opelousas brothers, Joseph R. Robbie Sebastien, Jr. of Opelousas Christopher Michael Sebastien of Opelousas David Charles Sebastien and wife, Sharon of Opelousas William Billy Kerr Sebastien and wife, Cathy of Port Barre Jonathan Kent Sebastien and wife, Justine of Opelousas sisters Geraldine Vaughn Bouchereau and husband, Forrest of Washington Heidi Maria LeDoux and husband, David of Opelousas Carrie Sebastien of Opelousas Margaret Anne Doise and husband, Daryl of Sunset Theresa Claire Fontenot and husband, Michael of Opelousas step brothers, Timothy George Bertrand and wife, Margaret of Opelousas and Denis Jude Bertrand and wife, Diane of Baton Rouge step sisters, Jeannine Anne Guilbeau and husband, Lynn of Lafayette and Andrea Theresa Hulse and husband, Frank of Baton Rouge stepchildren, Nicole and husband, Mike of Carencro Seth Dupuis and wife, Lorali of Carencro and Allie Schexnieder and husband, David of Lafayette and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family.

Stephen was preceded in death by his mother, Carolyn Vaughn Mayer Bertrand father, Joseph R. Sebastien, Sr. grandparents, Charles R. Mayer, Sr. and Geraldine Vaughn Kerr and Voris Dan Sebastien and Hilda Deville Sebastien and brother, James Michael Sebastien.

Pallbearers will be Chris Sebastien, Billy Sebastien, Jonathan Sebastien, Jacob Sebastien, Ian Brown, and Troy Weinstein. David Sebastien and Robbie Sebastien will serve as honorary pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, the memorial donations can be made to the family in Stephens memory.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2014, from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas. On Sunday, visitation will continue from 8:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. A Rosary Service will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday evening in the funeral home.
