Sr. Mary Philip Schexnayder AKA Clarisse Schexnayder was born October 14, 1916 in Vacherie, Louisiana. She died at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Nursing Home in Opelousas, Louisiana on June 18, 2011 at 10:30 PM.
She was preceded in death by her father, Adonis Schexnayder of Vacherie and her mother, Laura Waguespack Schexnayder of Vacherie four brothers: Stanley, Wiltz, Rene, Maurice and one sister, Eva Boudreaux. She is survived by two sisters: Margaret Troxclair and Rose Tanner and many extended family members.
She entered the Marianites of Holy Cross September 4, 1937, pronounced her first vows August 11, 1939 and her perpetual vows on August 11, 1943.
She was involved in elementary and high school teaching and administration in New Orleans, Houma, Lake Charles, and Eunice. She also taught French at Our Lady of Holy Cross College in New Orleans and traveled to France with students as she was very involved in the CODOFIL program Council for the Development of French in Louisiana.
Since 2005, she had been a well loved resident at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Nursing Home in Opelousas. She enjoyed speaking French with the other residents and the visitors and charmed many with her stories.

Wake service: Our Lady of Prompt Succor Nursing Home, Thursday, June 23rd 8:30 AM 10:00 AM followed by the Mass of the Resurrection at 10:00 AM in the chapel at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Nursing Home.
Burial will be in St. Landry Cemetery in Opelousas
