Deceased at Opelousas, Louisiana, on Thursday, June 13, 2013, at 11:45 a.m. at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Nursing Home.
Sr. Cor Mariae, M.S.C. was predeceased by: her parents, Albert Sidney and Gertrude Mavor Foley and her stepmother, Hilda Lejeune Robichaux Foley Grevembergh, her brothers, Albert S. Foley, S.J., Ivan McIvor Foley, Gerard Tiny Lumsden Foley and wife, Louise Hensgens Foley, and Donald I. Foley. Also her sisters, Gertrude Foley Saucier, Carol Foley Green and husband Beauford Green, Enid Foley Williamson and husband John S. Williamson, and Sr. Alberta Foley, M.S.C.
Sr. Cor Mariae is survived by two sistersinlaw, Jane Mestayer Foley Mrs. Ivan of New Orleans and Rosalind Cook Foley Mrs. Don of Lafayette, in addition to numerous nieces and nephews.
Sr. Cor Mariae entered the Congregation of the Marianites of Holy Cross in 1941. She pronounced her perpetual vows on August 11, 1946.
During her years in education, as teacher and principal, she served in New Orleans, Morgan City, Lake Charles. As a spiritual director and guide, she served in parish ministry at Holy Cross Parish in Morgan City, Immaculate Conception in Laurel, Mississippi, St. Michaels in Crowley, St. Michaels in New Iberia, St. Marys Assumption in Cottonport, Louisiana. A gifted artist and sculptor, her works of art are on display in many Marianite convents and places of ministry.
Through her varied life experiences, Sr. Cor Mariae brought her deep faith life and prayerful presence to each person she met. Her love and appreciation for others were very evident through her family and friends who were faithful in visiting her to the end.
To celebrate her life, a wake service will be held on Monday, June 17, 2013, from
8:00 AM 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Nursing Home in Opelousas, LA, followed by the Mass of the Resurrection at 10:30 AM at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Nursing Home with burial in St. Landry Cemetery in Opelousas, LA.
In lieu of flowers, the Marianites of Holy Cross request that memorial donations be made to the Marianites of Holy Cross at 1011 Gallier St., New Orleans, LA 70117.
