Sr. Mary Beth Lanning, MSC

New Orleans Funeral services for Sr. Mary Beth Lanning, MSC, age 86, will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, July 11, 2008, in the Our Lady of Wisdom Chapel in New Orleans, LA. Interment will follow in the Holy Cross Mausoleum in New Orleans, LA.

Sr. Lanning was born in New Orleans and was a resident of Opelousas. She passed away at 11:40 a.m. on Sunday, June 29, 2008, at Prompt Succor Nursing Facility in Opelousas.

Sr. entered the Congregation of the Marianites of Holy Cross in 1936. She was involved in the field of education. She taught at St. Mary of the Angels, Sts. Peter and Paul, St. Rita, Holy Name of Mary, St. Christopher and Resurrection School in New Orleans, LA. She also taught at Immaculate Conception in Lake Charles, LA; Immaculate Conception in Laurel, MS; and Sacred Heart in Hattiesburg, MS. She served as Principal at St. Peter and Paul in New Orleans, LA; and Immaculate Conception in Lake Charles, LA. She served on staff at Sacred Heart in Hattiesburg, MS; and St. Rita in New Orleans, LA. She had been in residence at Prompt Succor Nursing Facility where she continued her ministry of prayer.

Survivors include two cousins: Peggy Sanders and Sue Catchings of St. Francisville, LA; and by her Marianite Sisters.

Visiting hours will be observed on Friday, July 11, 2008, from 10 a.m.-11 a.m. in the chapel at Prompt Succor Nursing Facility in Opelousas, LA. From 2:30 to 4:00 p.m. visitation will continue at Our Lady of Wisdom Chapel in New Orleans, LA.

In Lieu of flowers, the Marianites of Holy Cross request that donations be made to the Marianite Retirement Fund at 1011 Gallier Street, New Orleans, LA, 70117.
