Sr. Mary Hilary Bodin, MSC

Opelousas A Mass of the Resurrection for Sr. Mary Hilary Bodin, MSC, age 97, will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 18, 2008, in Our Lady of Wisdom Chapel in New Orleans. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Holy Cross Mausoleum in New Orleans.

Sr. Hilary was born in Glenco, LA; and was currently residing in Opelousas. She died on Sunday, September 14, 2008, in the Prompt Succor Nursing Facility of Opelousas, LA. She was involved in education and served in various administrative positions. She taught at St. Cecilia, St. Charles Academy and Holy Name of Mary. She was Prefect of Borders at Holy Angels Academy, Novice Mistress, Assistant Provincial of the then LA Province of the Marianite Sisters of Holy Cross. She was instrumental in the development of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Nursing Home in Opelousas, LA. She played a major role in the development of Our Lady of Holy Cross College in New Orleans, LA. Other administrative positions were at East Carroll Parish Hospital in Lake Providence, LA; St. Patrick Hospital in Lake Charles; and St. Martin Manor in New Orleans. Sister had been in residence at Our Lady of Wisdom Health Care Center in New Orleans, LA for the past ten years where she continued her ministry of prayer.

She is survived by one sister, Emmadel Hay of Franklin, LA; two brothers: Hugh Bodin and wife, Shirley of Pearl River, LA; and Roland Bodin of Lake Charles, LA; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews.

Sr. Hilary was preceded in death by her parents: Agnes Ibert Bodin and Edward J. Bodin; and three brothers: Rt. Rev. Msgr. George Bodin, Raymond Bodin, and Brother Raphael Bodin, FSC.

Visiting hours will be observed on Thursday, September 18, 2008, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Prompt Succor Nursing Facility Chapel in Opelousas. A Prayer service will be held at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel.

Visitation will continue at Our Lady of Wisdom Chapel in New Orleans, LA from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.

In Lieu of flowers, the Marianites of Holy Cross request that donations be made to the Marianite Retirement Fund at 1011 Gallier Street, New Orleans, LA, 70117.
