Algiers, LA Funeral services for Sister Mary Estelle, 84, will be held at 11:00AM, Saturday February 24, 2007, in the Our Lady of Wisdom Health Care Center in Algiers, LA. Interment will follow in the Our Lady of Holy Cross Mausoleum in Algiers, LA.

Sr. Mary Estelle, who was a native of New Orleans, died at 6:30AM on Thursday, February 22, 2007 at Opelousas General Health System.

Sister was in residence at Prompt Succor Nursing Facility in Opelousas, LA, where she continued her ministry of prayer.

Sister entered the Congregation of the Marianites of Holy Cross in 1939. She was an elementary school teacher. She taught at Holy Angels, St. Cecilia, St. Julian Eymard, St. Rita, Holy Name of Mary and St. Andrew Schools in New Orleans, LA. She also taught at Sacred Heart in Ville Platte, LA, Sacred Heart and Holy Cross in Morgan City, LA, St. John in Franklin, LA, St. Charles in Lake Charles, LA and Holy Family in Port Allen, LA. Sister Mary served on the faculy of Our Lady of Holy Cross College in New Orleans, LA and served as Pastoral Minister in St. Cletus Parish in Gretna, LA.

Survivors include: one sister, Dorothy Duplessis of Donaldsonville, LA; one nephew, Richard Duplessis of New Orleans, LA; two nieces, Theresa Klack and Cheryl Sutton of Donaldsonville, LA; two grandnieces and two great grandnieces.

Sister Mary Estelle was preceded in death by parents, Claude and Effie Bourgeois Foucheaux.

Visiting hours will be observed from 8:30-11:00AM on Saturday, February 24, 2007 in the Our Lady of Wisdom Health Care Center in Algiers, LA.
