Opelousas Funeral services for Shirley Rita Chachere, 85, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 10, 2008, with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Landry Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Bellevue Memorial Park.

Msgr. Robert Romero will conduct the Mass.

Mrs. Shirley was a life-long resident of Opelousas. She died on Friday, March 7, 2008 at Opelousas General Health System. She was a secretary for an insurance agency for many years. She was also a member of St. Landry Catholic Church.

Survivors include two brothers: J. D. Chachere and wife, Eldora of Houston, TX; and C. Barry Chachere and wife, Mary Helen of Houston, TX; one sister, Rose Mary Harmon of Opelousas; and also a host of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents: Joseph D. Chachere and Leonie Barry Chachere.

Visiting hours will be observed from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 9, 2008, in Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas.
