OPELOUSAS-A Mass of Christian Burial for Shirley M. Moscovis, age 84, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 28, 2015, in Queen of Angels Catholic Church. Rev. Msgr. Keith J. DeRouen will celebrate the Mass. Interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park.
Shirley passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2015, at her residence in Opelousas surrounded by her family. She was born on November 9, 1930, in Leonville. She enjoyed cooking for her family, gardening especially flowers, and going to Antique Shops and Flea Markets. She was a good Christian, a devoted Catholic who went to Church and attended Mass often. She was a member of a Rosary Group and attended their meetings regularly. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother who will be missed by all who knew her shared her love.
She is survived her son, Wayne Edward Moscovis of Opelousas; two daughters, Mary Ann Speyrer and husband Gabe Speyrer, Jr. of Opelousas; and Patricia Lynn Villien of Lafayette; sister, Mary Jane Miley of Baton Rouge; 4 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Moscovis; brother, Jimmy Robin and Gerald Joseph Robin; sister, Rose Mary Darby.
The family requested visiting hours on Sunday, September 27, 2015, from 6:00 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas. On Monday, the funeral home will reopen at 8:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.
The Rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday evening at the funeral home.
