Shirley Hrachovy
Port Barre A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Shirley Hrachovy will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 10, 2014, in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Rev. Fth. Daniel Picard will celebrate the Mass services. Interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Mausoleum. Sharee Hunter will provide the music for the Mass.
Shirley was a native of Port Barre and long time resident. She passed away on Saturday, September 6, 2014, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family at the age of 85. Shirley married Daniel Hrachovy in 1953 and spent the first few years of her married life devoted to her husband and four children. She went to work for American Bank of Port Barre in 1968 until she retired in 1994 after 26 years. Her favorite pastime activities were reading books, watching game shows on TV and enjoying her Iphone. She was an excellent cook and a very talented seamstress. Shirley was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She is going to be sadly missed by her family and all that knew her.
Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Daniel Hrachovy of Port Barre son David Hrachovy of Port Barre, son Mark Hrachovy and fianc Holly DeJean of Port Barre, daughter Yvette Berard and partner Doug Anderson who are residing in Cartersville, GA, daughter Stephanie Roberts of Harahan grandchildren: Nichole Hrachovy Hatten and husband Aaron Hatten of Krotz Springs, Jonathan Hrachovy of Opelousas, their mother Marceline Cortez Hrachovy of Opelousas and Benjamin Roberts of Harahan. She is also survived by her great grandchildren, Brandt Hatten, Evan Hatten and Adelyn Hatten and their half brother Quade Hatten of Krotz Springs. She had a special place in her heart for Jane McConnel and her daughter Helen Templet of Gonzales, whom she embraced as her adopted daughter and granddaughter. She is also survived by her granddogs Mork and Mindy and her grandcat Memphis.
She was preceded in death by parents, Dave and Marie Duplechain and her soninlaw Dr. Darryl Roberts.
Visitation will begin on Tuesday, September 9, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and then reopen Wednesday morning from 8:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. A Rosary Service will be held on Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m.
