Shirley Dupre Gauthier

Port Barre Funeral services for Mrs. Shirley Dupre Gauthier, 73, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 1, 2008, with a Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Father Nicky Trahan will celebrate the Mass.

Mrs. Shirley was a long-time resident of Port Barre. She passed away on Thursday, November 27, 2008, in the Opelousas General Health System. She was known for her sewing and cooking. She would love to spend time with the family and friends. She also enjoyed fishing and cooking the Christmas meals which brought her so much joy. She was an easy going person and loved everyone. She was a devoted wife, and a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by two sons: Bobby Thomas Gauthier, Sr. and wife, Patricia; and Wayne Roy Gauthier and wife, Jackie; all of Port Barre; one daughter, Jeannette G. Stelly and husband, Terry of Opelousas; one brother, Robert Dupre of Pine Prairie; two sisters: Beatrice Kearns and Gloria Beauboeuf, both of Pineville; 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Leon Gauthier; her parents: Murphy Dupre, Sr. and Aline Talbot Dupre; two brothers: Murphy J. Dupre, Jr. and Murry Dupre; sister, Beverly Dupre; daughter-In-law, Cheryl Olivier Gauthier; and nephew, Roy Gauthier.

Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Port Barre on Sunday, November 30, 2008, beginning at 4:00 p.m. with an all night wake until the time of services on Monday.

A Rosary service will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday evening in the funeral home.
