Opelousas Funeral services for Scottie Lee Devillier, age 40, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 1, 2008, in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas. Interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park. Father Paul Bienvenu will officiate the services.

Scottie was a native and lifelong resident of Opelousas. He died on Monday, April 28, 2008, in the Opelousas General Health System. He loved spending time with his friends and fishing.

Survivors include his grandparents: Wilsey and Ozea Deville Noel of Opelousas; godparents: Roy and Ruth Doucet of Opelousas; one brother, Mitchell Doucet, Sr. of Prairie Ronde; one sister, Elizabeth Nezat and husband, Will of Church Point; godchildren: Gregory Roy Doucet and Michael Pitre, both of Opelousas; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Scottie was preceded in death by his parents: Leroy Joseph Devillier and Laura Brown Devillier; paternal grandparents: Julian and Martha Charlitz Devillier; maternal grandfather, Joseph A. Brown; niece, Jonie Lea Doucet; and nephew, Christopher Hargroder.

Pallbearers will be Frank Angelle, Derrick Courvelle, Troy Pitre, Gregory Doucet, Mitchell Doucet, Jr. and Shawn Brady. Honorary pallbearers will be Roy Doucet and John Angelle.

Visiting hours will be observed on Wednesday, April 30, 2008, from 11:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas. On Thursday, visitation will continue from 8 a.m. until the time of services.

A rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening in the funeral home.
