Sarah Jarrell

Born Feb, 21, 1995, in Opelousas and died at Lafayette General Medical Center on Friday, April 6, 2012. She attended Opelousas Catholic from preschool until her junior year.

A loving daughter, sister and friend, she will be deeply missed by her parents, William and Kathryn Jarrell of Opelousas, her brothers, Jacob, Seth, David, Samuel and John Michael Jarrell and her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Aguillard of Eunice her paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. William H. Jarrell, Jr. of Opelousas and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her aunt, Melanie Ann Jarrell.

An accomplished 17 year old, Sarah was the newly elected cheer captain. She was a first team alldistrict and allparish defensive soccer player and allparish MVP, an inducted member of The National Honor Society, Senior Beta Club member, member of the student government, and a manager of the baseball team. Sarah loved baking, laughing, soccer, cheerleading, and being with family and friends. She will also be remembered for her creative talent in making bracelets for friends and family. She was competitive on the field and compassionate towards all. Sarah was in the confirmation class of Our Lady Queen of Angels Church and received the sacrament of Confirmation preceding her death.

Pallbearers will be her brothers, Jacob, Seth, David and Sam uncles Charles Jarrell and Raymond Aguillard honorary pallbearers, her youngest brother John Michael, Jules Cifreo and the Opelousas Catholic junior class.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 10, 2012, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Sibille Funeral Home in Opelousas, LA. A Rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday in the funeral home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 11, 2012, at St. Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas, LA. Rite of Committal will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park.

The Most Reverend Michael Jarrell, Bishop of Lafayette and great uncle of Sarah will be the celebrant of the Funeral Mass. The Rev. Msgr. Keith J. DeRouen, pastor of Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church will be the homilist and Master of Ceremonies. Major concelebrants will be The Rev. Fr. James Brady, pastor of St. Landry Catholic Church, The Rev. Msgr. James Gaddy, pastor of Queen of Heaven Catholic Church in Lake Charles, The Rev. Msgr. Louis Melancon, in residence at St. Landry Catholic Church, and The Rev. Fr. Millard Boyer, chaplain at Lafayette General Hospital. Deacons of the Mass will be Deacon Jerome Collins and Deacon Sammy Diesi. Seminarians of the Diocese of Lafayette will be the servers for the Mass. The Lector for the Mass will be John Braham, campus minister at Opelousas Catholic School.
