Sam D'Amico, Jr.

OpelousasA Mass of Christian Burial for Sam John DAmico, Jr. will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 3, 2014, in the Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church. Fr. Paul Metrejean will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow in the St. Charles Borromeo Church Cemetery in Grand Coteau.

Sam was a native of Baton Rouge and a longtime resident of Opelousas. He passed away on Monday, September 29, 2014, at his home surrounded by his family at the age of 63. Sam was an avid supporter of the U.L. Lafayette rugby team, football team and other sports. He was a charter member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity, Zeta Omega Chapter, and member of the Alumni Advisory Board.

Survivors include his loving wife, of over 40 years, Carole Hebert DAmico of Opelousas and one son, Christopher Paul DAmico of Denver, Co. He is also survived by his brother, Daniel Skip DAmico of Zachary, and his sisters, Grace Russo of Donaldsonville, Sallie Segura of New Roads, and Suzette DAmico of Baton Rouge, twentynine nieces and nephews and thirtyeight great nieces and great nephews and numerous greatgreat nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam John, Sr. and Marie Degitz DAmico, his brother, James Lee DAmico, and his sisters, Sammye Segura and Marie Ransome.

Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Thursday, October 2, 2014, from 4:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of Angles Catholic Church until time of Mass at 11:00 a.m.

A Rosary service led by Sammy Diesi will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday in the funeral home.
