Sam Joseph Cormier

Opelousas- Sam Joseph Cormier, a native of Buras, LA and resident of Opelousas, died at 9:15PM Saturday, April 28, 2007 at the Southwest Medical Center in Lafayette.

Mr. Cormier served his country in the U.S. Army and after bravely serving in Vietnam, Mr. Cormier worked in the oilfield until his retirement.

Survivors include: a daughter, Shelly Cormier of Washington, LA; three brothers, Vincent Cormier of Bush, LA, Douglas and Wiley Duet of Golden Meadow; a sister Gladys Esponge of Golden Meadow; five grandchildren, Larry Edwards, Jr., Jalen and Justin Edwards, and Amaya and Ambria Cormier; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Vincent J. and Jeanette Thibodaux Cormier; a brother, Nolan Duet and a grandchild, Justice Edwards.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas.
